Summary: Provide comprehensive dental care within regulatory guides that result in relief of pain and oral health for pediatric patients and select adult patients.Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, and related oral structures by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Emergency care for treatment of acute conditions (i.e. abscesses)
Diagnostic examination of hard and soft tissues, x-rays, occlusal analysis and oral cancer screenings
Development and implementation of treatment plans
Restorations of teeth that are viable, using amalgam or composite resin materials or installation of crowns and bridges
Extraction of teeth which are determined a health hazard
Fluoride treatments and sealants
Simple endodontic and periodontal procedures
Administer oral hygiene education in conjunction with the oral hygienist dental assistants
Respond to inquiries by patients and staff on dental health and treatments
Direct professional and auxiliary staff during treatment of clients
Recommends patient referrals for specialized treatment and oral surgery
Observe and refer patients for medical and/or behavioral health care as deemed appropriate based on the Center’s integrated care model guidelines.
Perform related duties as required by Dental Director, CEO, and CMO
Qualifications
Education and Experience: DDS or DMD degree from a dental program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Open Dental, Suni and Dentrix Dental Software, eClinical Works Database
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current licensure with the Virginia Board of Dentistry. Current DEA registrations for the purpose of writing prescriptions
Other Requirements
SomeIn-state travel with occasional travel outside the state may be required.

Knowledge of the structure and function of community health centers
Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to dentistry, community health centers, and public dental health

The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of radiation. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
